Samizdat is a social historian fascinated by cultural happenstance and musical cross-pollination. This mix Love Cats Stomp pays homage to the song of his own youth and the sounds that shaped the enduring wedding-disco classic, namely jazz, swing, calypso, rhythm 'n' blues, rock 'n' roll, the bossa nova - essentially variations on the clave or stomp rhythm. Samizdat wants to show solidarity with the Black Lives Matter uprising with some revolutionary dance music dating from the 1930s to 1990s, with a particular focus on the Fifties and Sixties.
