Together in Kampala
From the start our UK party was intended to have an impact far beyond the three magical days we got to spend laughing, dancing & playing together in a field...
It was an absolute joy to be in Kampala to make sure the second leg of Together 2016 went off with a bang!
With your suppport we were able to throw a mega party in Kampala for over 150 kids, giving the children Awamu works with in the slums, a rare day out.
Check out all the fun in the little video we made.
You helped to raise nearly £15,000 for Awamu's work with orphaned children, giving them the opportunity to go to school by providing fees, uniforms, shoes, textbooks, pens and pencils along with peer counselling and sexual reproductive health information.
Awamu also provides Enterprise Training for their guardians to enable them to start a business so they are better able to take control of their own lives and the children in their care.
All very serious stuff, but at the heart of Awamu's work is the belief that all children should be equal, have the right to play and enjoy, well, just being a kid...
A massive thank you to all Together-ists for making all this possible!
Not forgetting The Busy Twist for generously letting us use their track 'Friday Night' in our video.
